Elvis Costello and The Imposters are heading down to Atlantic City. Accompanied by special guest Charlie Sexton, the legendary “Alison” singer-songwriter and his band will perform for you this Friday, September 19th, at the world-class Borgata Event Center. The session is part of the “Radio Soul! The Early Songs of Elvis Costello” Tour, extended by popular demand with 22 Summer 2025 dates along the Midwest, East Coast, and Canada. As the billing suggests, fans will revisit the first decade of Costello’s historic career as a solo artist and bandleader, with some wondrous surprises in store.
Grammy Award winner and Hall of Famer Elvis Costello is reminiscing about the good old days of 1970s new wave and spitfire British punk. For his upcoming event, the London-born musical visionary will focus on the foundational period spanning his 1977 studio debut My Aim Is True, a genre-blurring revolution through ten albums in nine years, and a triumphant return to form with 1986’s Blood & Chocolate. Experience classic Costello hits performed in faithful and breathtaking concert renditions. Such works to expect include the breakthrough single “Watching the Detectives,” his iconic ballad “Alison,” “Radio Radio,” “Man Out of Time,” new wave’s “High Fidelity,” “Oliver’s Army,” “Brilliant Mistake,” and the obsessed, head over heels manic “I Want You.”
The English equivalent of Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello is a bonafide songwriting legend admired by generations since his ‘70s stardom. He was inducted into both Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame. His “swooning, kicking, and screaming rock and roll band,” The Imposters, features three trailblazing musicians, namely keyboardist Steve Nieve, drummer Pete Thomas, and bassist Davey Faragher, with Costello on lead guitar. The Borgata Event Center offers a prestigious stage, coveted by the globe’s A-list talents, expertly tuned acoustics, and immersive sightlines sustaining the venue’s grand but intimate atmosphere.
Guest artist Charlie Sexton, who previously toured with the group in 2021 and 2022, returns to open. He brings a set tinted with an evocative blues-rock tone, originating from his debut, Pictures for Pleasure, and its Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Beat’s So Lonely.”
